Exploring color, expression, awareness & healing

What if color could tell us something about ourselves before we even have the words?

I’m excited to introduce The Language of Color, an experiential workshop I’ve been developing, and I’m inviting a small group of people to join me for the very first pilot offering.

We’re going to explore a language that has been communicating with us all along — the language of color, hue, value, line, texture, symbol, and visual expression.

As we become more familiar with this language, we can begin to notice how much information is communicated without words and how we can use color more intentionally to express ourselves.

🎨 What We’ll Explore

We’ll move through color and explore the meanings, associations, and messages connected with different colors, hues, and values.

Along the way, we’ll explore:

🌈 Color & meaning

How different colors communicate and how our relationship with color can influence the way we perceive and express ourselves.

🎨 Hue & value

How subtle shifts within a color can change what is being communicated.

🌿 Our awareness of nature

Noticing the colors, patterns, contrasts, and visual language already surrounding us in the natural world.

👁️ Our awareness of others

Becoming curious about how color and visual choices can communicate.

〰️ Line & movement

Exploring how line can communicate direction, energy, movement, emotion, and intention.

🖌️ Texture

Discovering how texture adds another layer of communication and expression.

⭕ Universal symbols

Exploring symbols and the meanings humans have associated with them across cultures and throughout time.

🧍‍♀️ The body as a map

Becoming curious about the ways our bodies can reflect and communicate our thoughts, emotions, experiences, and inner worlds.

As we learn the language, we’ll also explore how we can use color intentionally to express ourselves and communicate things that may be difficult to put into words.

Our creative experiences will give us an opportunity to practice the language of color and explore what we discover along the way.

🤍 Color, Expression & Healing

I’m especially interested in what happens when we begin paying attention to the ways we naturally communicate through color and visual expression.

Sometimes we know something before we can explain it.

Sometimes our bodies communicate before our words catch up.

Sometimes a color, a line, a texture, or a symbol can give us another way to express something that is asking to be seen.

This workshop will give us space to explore those possibilities together.

We’ll draw from the work of Johannes Itten, a major figure in color theory whose work explored the relationships between color, perception, emotion, and human experience.

✨ Be Part of the First Language of Color Group

This is the pilot offering of The Language of Color, and I’m intentionally keeping this first group intimate.

There is something special about being part of the very beginning of something — discovering it together, bringing your own experiences and perspectives, and helping shape what it becomes.

Your presence matters to me.

What you notice, what you discover, what you create, and what you bring to our conversations will become part of this first experience.

Pilot Contribution

For this first offering, I’m making The Language of Color contribution-based rather than setting a fixed price.

I invite you to contribute anywhere from $5–$100, depending on what feels comfortable for you financially.

I value each person who chooses to be part of this first group. Your presence, participation, perspective, and what you bring to the experience are all part of what makes this valuable to me.

I’m also open to bartering, an exchange of services, or another creative arrangement that feels good and reciprocal. If you have an idea, reach out and let’s talk about it.

After the pilot group, The Language of Color will move to a regular rate.

For this first offering, my greatest hope is to gather people who feel curious and excited to explore this with me.

✨ A Little Something Extra for Our First Group

Because you’re helping me launch The Language of Color, I’d love to offer a way for you to stay connected to the work as it grows.

Pilot participants will have the opportunity to audit future live Language of Color workshops for $35 per workshop.

And as I develop recorded courses, pilot participants will have complimentary access to future recorded Language of Color courses.

My hope is that this becomes an ongoing opportunity to explore, learn, and continue discovering the language of color together.

Tuesdays at 1:00 PM Mountain Time

Beginning Tuesday, August 18

The sessions will build upon one another, so I ask that you RSVP with the intention of participating in the full series.

If something comes up and you’re unable to attend a weekly session, please let me know.

🎨 What You’ll Need

You won’t need anything for our first session.

We’ll go over the materials together during our first meeting so you’ll have time to gather what you need for the following sessions.

For our creative explorations, you’ll eventually want:

Color craft paint

Cadmium Red
Alizarin Crimson
Ultramarine Blue
Light Yellow Ochre
Titanium White
Burnt Umber
Black

Other materials

A few paintbrushes
A jar or cup for water
Paper towels or an old rag
A simple palette for mixing — a paper plate works perfectly
Paper or canvas

I recommend good-quality paper for the best results, although you don’t need anything expensive. An inexpensive canvas is another option, and packs of canvases are often an economical choice.

You’ll also want access to a computer, if possible, so you can see what I’m presenting on screen. A phone may work as well, depending on your setup.
